American Enterprise Institute president to give Park Lecture April 11
Arthur C. Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), will deliver the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media’s Roy H. Park Distinguished Lecture in the Carroll Hall auditorium Thursday, April 11, at 4 p.m.
Brooks’ lecture is free and open to the public.
Brooks has been the president of the AEI think tank for public policy research since January 2009. Prior to that he was the Louis A. Bantle Professor of Business and Government Policy at Syracuse University.
Brooks’ most recent book, “The Road to Freedom: How to Win the Fight for Free Enterprise,“ a New York Times Bestseller, explores how policy makers have weakened entrepreneurship and upward mobility.
His research has led him to publish hundreds of articles and 10 books ranging from economics of the arts to military operations research.
As a university professor for a decade, Brooks taught economics, nonprofit management and social entrepreneurship. Before studying public policy, Brooks pursued a career as a professional French hornist and played with multiple ensembles including the City Orchestra of Barcelona.
He lives in Bethesda, Md., with his family.
