CABJ presents: What Makes a SCANDAL?
The Carolina Association of Black Journalists (CABJ) will host crisis communicator Judy Smith, the inspiration for the hit ABC television Drama "Scandal," on March 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sonja Haynes Stone Center on the UNC campus.
The event, titled "What Makes a SCANDAL?," is co-sponsored by the Carolina Union Activities Board (CUAB), Carolina PRSSA and the Black Student Movement. It is free and open to the public.
Smith will speak on her experiences as a crisis communicator and the tools necessary to put your best foot forward toward successful leadership in any industry.
Best known in media circles for her expertise as a crisis management adviser, Smith has served as a consultant for a host of high profile, celebrity and entertainment clients over the course of her career including Monica Lewinsky, actor Wesley Snipes, NFL quarterback Michael Vick and the family of Chandra Levy.
Her experiences and career in crisis management inspired the on-screen life of Olivia Pope, the main character in the TV drama "Scandal." Smith serves as co-executive producer of the show and provides insight and technical expertise on crisis management issues throughout the project.
A book signing with Smith will follow after the lecture. Books will be available for sale at a discounted price before the lecture.
