Stevenson named 2011 N.C. College Photographer of the Year

Arkasha Stevenson, a December 2010 photojournalism graduate, was named N.C. Press Photographers Association's 2011 College Photographer of the Year Sunday, March 20, in Asheville, N.C., at the NCPPA’s annual meeting.
In addition to top student award, Stevenson won Best In Show in the NCPPA's Pictures of the Year (POY) contest for “Safekeeping,” part of the short documentary At Home in the Heartland at the 2011 Mountain Workshops. John Adkisson, also a December 2010 grad and 2010 NCPPA College Photographer of the Year, was named runner-up as six Carolina photojournalism students took home 19 POY awards.
