Halls of Fame in Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations nomination deadline: Jan. 22January 7, 2010, 11:08 PMThe UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media will accept nominations through Jan. 22, 2010, for this year’s inductees to the N.C. Halls of Fame in Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations. The induction ceremony will be held Sunday, April 11, at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill. |

Caldwell places eighth nationally in Hearst writing competitionDecember 23, 2009, 3:31 PMCarolina journalism student Abbey Caldwell, a senior from Charlotte, placed eighth in the latest writing competition of the Hearst Journalism Awards Program, known as the Pulitzers of collegiate journalism. Caldwell was chosen from among a record 114 students from 64 universities who participated in the writing competition. |

Adkisson places first in Hearst photojournalism competitionDecember 9, 2009, 9:42 PMCarolina photojournalism student John Adkisson, a senior from Charlotte, placed first in the November 2009 photojournalism competition of the Hearst Journalism Awards Program, known as the Pulitzers of collegiate journalism. His work was selected from among 86 entries submitted from 52 schools nationwide. He qualifies for the national semi-final round of judging. Courtney Potter, a recent J-school graduate, took sixth place in the competition. |
