Frank Andrews gives school's fall commencement address
Frank Andrews, president and CEO of August Jackson, gave the school's fall commencement address on Sunday, Dec. 14, in the Carroll Hall auditorium.
He spoke of the importance of following your passions, working hard from day one, and learning from mistakes and setbacks. Read the transcript.
Andrews, a 1990 J-school alumnus, founded the Washington, D.C.-based communications agency, which has offices in Chicago, San Francisco and New York. Under his leadership, August Jackson has created and produced hundreds of events and campaigns across the United States and in more than a dozen countries.
He grew up on the account side of the agency business, both domestically and in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to his journalism degree, he earned an MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
In 2006, Andrews started The August Jackson Foundation to create a stewardship role in the communities where the company’s employees live and work through causes related to the arts, education and the environment. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and serves on the board of the College of Arts and Sciences Foundation at UNC.
