Bloomberg selects eight interns from UNC J-school

Bloomberg News has selected eight interns from the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media to work for the news service during the winter and summer semesters.
Andrea Ludtke, who graduated in December, will intern for Bloomberg in New York beginning in January. She will be joined by junior Caroline Schaberg.
In the summer, Bloomberg selected junior Jeanna Smialek as the Steamboat Scholar and junior Kelly Blessing as the Van Hecke Award winner. Both will intern in New York.
Also selected for internships at Bloomberg for the summer are senior Patricia Laya, junior Meghan Lyons, senior Steven Norton and junior Alex Barinka. Laya and Barinka previously interned with Bloomberg News.
This past semester, editors and reporters from Bloomberg News bureaus around the country taught an “Advanced Business Reporting” class at the school, traveling to Chapel Hill twice a week.
The school started a major in business journalism during the 2011-12 academic year. Schaberg, Lyons and Barinka are among the students recently admitted into the major.
